Actress Jyothika was one of the top contender for Best Actress Award in the 55th National Award for her portrayal of deaf and mute girl in Mozhi.
According to Malayam director Sibi Malayil, one of the jury members at the 55th National Film Awards for 2007, told a news channel that Actress Jyothika was one of the front runners for her performance in Mozhi, along with Meera Jasmine for the Malayalam film Ore Kadal and Umashree for the Kannada film Gulabi Talkies.
Intrestingly Mozhi is also the home production of Actor Prakash Raj who bagged the Best Actor Award.
