Vijay’s Vettaikaran Theme Music

Vijay’s ‘Vettaikaran’ has made its way from the papers to the floors. Yeah! With AVM Productions churning out this film, Babu Sivan once an associate of Director Dharani has handled story, screenplay, dialogues and direction for this film.

The film’s first schedule commenced recently on March 9 across the exotic locations of Rajahmundry where a title song featuring Vijay and 100 Junior Artists were shot extensively…

Vijay Antony who has been rocking the town with his new musical genre ‘Rock-Gaana’ has tuned melodies that would break the floors when Vijay dances for it. Gopinath who earlier cranked cameras for Dharani’s film handles cinematography.

Anushka makes her comeback in Kollywood with this film.

Vijay in 4-different get ups in Vettaikaran

Actor Vijay had his film ‘Vettaikaran’ started rolling recently here in Rajahmundry. It’s been revealed that the title song that has been shot lavishly with 100 junior artists will have Vijay appearing in 4 different get ups.

Babu Sivan exclusively speaking to media has said that he has blended the best commercial aspects suiting Vijay’s usual traits of masala stuffs.

Anushka who pairs up with Vijay for this film dons the role of a software engineer. Salim Khosh has been roped in for playing the role baddie here.

Vettaikaran Movie first schedule Finish

The first schedule of Vijay’s upcoming Vettaikaran is over at Rajahmundry in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The grapevine is abuzz that Vijay is spotting a new look for the film, which will not be revealed immediately.

The film produced by A V M Balasubramaniam and directed by Babu Shivam, has Anushka as heroine. The buzz is that the film is an action packed family entertainer laced with comedy and sentiment.

As per sources in the unit, the hero introduction song was picturised in which Vijay’s son Sanjay has danced with his dad against an Ayyanar temple background. Then hero meeting heroine for the first time in a very comic manner was shot in a Railway Station. Added to that some talkie portions were also canned in and around Rajahmundry.

The second schedule of the film is to start in Chennai in the second week of April, and it will be shot mostly at AVM studio including a set song. Vijay Antony is composing the second song likely to be a duet

Vijay and his son Sanjay in Vettaikaran song Dance

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s son Sanjay (7) is making a special appearance
with dad in a song for his new film Vettaikaran, produced by AVM
Balasubramaniam!

Sources close to the unit confirmed that Sanjay
has done a dance number with Vijay shot by cameraman Gopinath and
directed by Babu Shivam in Rajahmundry. Shobhi, who excels in mass
songs, choreographed it in front of an Ayyanar temple set.

Those on the sets said Sanjay a chip of the old block, as he danced well to his dad’s steps and impressed everybody.

The old timers on the sets says that it was coincidental that Kamal Hassan
too made his debut like Sanjay, as a child artist in a film produced by
AVM (Kalathur Kannamma)!

The song tuned by Vijay Antony is a
high energy peppy fast number with lyrics by Kapilan. Says Vijay
Antony: “It is a real fast number, better than my Nakku Mukka or
Aathichudi. It is the introduction song of Vijay sir and has been
composed to suit his style and dance.”

Ayan - From a woman's point of view

Taking off from where your other behindwoods visitor talks about Ayan, here's my take as well. Taking an eight year old to a film can be a challenging task in itself. Being full off beans they want to know if the movie has enough comedy or will Suriya uncle be nice etcetera. Anyway when you have managed to assuage your child’s apprehensions of a film, you realize that the caramelized popcorn is almost over and the film has not even begun. Fortunately the first 20 odd minutes are racy enough to make you forget that your munchies are over. What begins as an adrenalin rush is over before you can say Congo....

For the first time you have a "bondesque..." look and feel to a Tamil film and while it starts well, it begins to meander into small inconsequential gullies and is soon lost. I honestly would have loved it if the director had done away with all the songs except the first one in the film. None of the others were required and nor did they stay in your mind or hearts.

Jai – Life after the ban in Goa!

Jai has got permission from the Producers’ Council to star in the Soundarya Rajinikanth’s home production Goa is well known in Kollywood. Behindwoods also reported a few days ago that Rajinikanth played a pivotal role in getting the ban lifted so that Jai could act in the film. Ochre Studio was doing the groundwork to set the ball rolling ever since the blanket permission was obtained. With everything set right and Jai having 20 days permission to act in Goa, the team is now ready to start filming the scenes involving him.

Vettaikaran’s new entrant

The Anushka–Vijay starrer Vettaikaran, whichstarted in the first week of March 2009, has a latest entrant. Late director Jeeva’s erstwhile assistant Srinath will don the role of a comedian in the flick. Srinath is, however, not new to comedy roles as such. He has already been featured in almost all of Jeeva’s movies, prominent ones including Dham Dhoom and Unnale Unnale. Srinath is currently directing Muthirai, which features Nithin Sathya, Daniel Balaji and Laksmi Rai. Vettaikaran, on the other hand, is constantly in the news as one can see. The movie was recently in news with Vijay’s son making a fleeting cameo appearance in the title song.

Kamal’s HCL recruit for Unnaipol Oruvan

With the title being changed to Unnaipol Oruvan, the ball for Kamal’s next film has begun rolling. The teaser trailer has been released and we know that the film is being directed by the hitherto unknown Chakri and that Shruthi Haasan will be handling the music department. We also know that Kamal will be playing Naseeruddin Shah’s role from the original and Mohanlal will be doing Anupam Kher’s. Further casting details are yet to be revealed. Kamal has always been known for introducing writers and other artistes in his films. The list of writers who have found a place in Kamal’s films include Crazy Mohan, Ra. Ki. Rangarajan, Ku. Gnanasampanthan, Pralayan, Puviyarasu, Madan etc. He even used lyricist Kapilan in a few scenes of Dasavatharam. This time too Kamal will be introducing a writer, it is heard, a name that most of us would not have heard of till now. It is Ira Murugan. He has been given an opportunity to work on the dialogues of Unnaipol Oruvan. Ira. Murugan’s is not a full time writer, however. You will be surprised to know that he is a software engineer working for HCL. But Kamal’s choices are based on rationale and we are sure that this one too is not wrong.

Selvaraghavan plans Aayirathil Oruvan audio launch

Aayirathil Oruvan is inching closer towards a long overdue release. The first step towards this will be the audio release which, according to sources, is being planned to be held on a grand scale by Selvaraghavan at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai on May 1st. The event will have live performances of all the songs in the album. There are total of 10 tracks set to tune by GV Prakash, who is hugely satisfied with the results of his work. He said that the songs are sure to be loved by the youth. Mixing for the album was done at Sterling Sounds in New York. Aayirathil Oruvan will be an action adventure with a portion reportedly being set in the 18th century. Aayirathil Oruvan stars Karthi, Reema Sen and Parthiban in lead roles. Let’s hope that the long wait for Selvaraghavan’s magnum opus pays off.

Dasavatharam brings honors to Asin

Asin has bagged the ITFA award for the best actress for her performance in Dasavatharam. The awards will be presented in a ceremony at Singapore on the 16th of May. Dasavatharam, in which Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan played the hero, went on to become a smash hit. Kamal’s ten roles, all in different get ups, are worth a mention here. Asin, who shared the screen space with him, came out with an exemplary performance that took her to places in the Indian film industry. Asin recently bagged the Filmfare Best Hindi Debut this year, for starring in the film Ghajini.

Bale Pandiya’s pooja

Bale Pandiya’s customary pooja to mark its commencement was held in Chennai yesterday. The film is produced by Kalpathi S.Agoram’s AGS Entertainment and will be directed by Siddarth. Vishnu, who had starred in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Piaa of Poi Solla Porom fame, will play the leading roles. Those who participated in the event to wish the crew include director Shankar, Pushkar Gayathri, Suriya, Karthi, and producer Kalaipuli S.Dhanu.

A.R. Rahman’s vacation

The double Oscar winner A.R. Rahman is on a vacation cum business trip to the UK and the US. Apparently, the Mozart of Madras is accompanied by his wife. Sources have it that his schedule is packed with several meetings with film makers andbusiness acquaintances. Rahman’s new agent in the US, through whom he had bagged an international offer, is also making arrangements for the Oscar winner to meet some of the well known film makers. With this we can expect Rahman to return home with several big international offers. In the home front, Rahman has five major films to which he is already committed including Mani Rathnam’s Ravan and Rajini-starrer, Shankar-directed Endhiran.

Where is Aamir Khan?

Aamir Khan has gone on a two-month holiday. The actor took off on a vacation with his two children to an undisclosed location. According to his blog, he will return during May end or June. No one knows where exactly the actor had gone and he cannot be reached on phone too. However, Aamir’s wife Kiran did not find a place in this vacation as she is busy with her own film projects. The actor, who is an avid blogger, says that he will try and connect to his fans if time permits during his vacation. Well, this is a long deserved vacation for Aamir!

Bipasha Basu to direct

After entering the film industry with Ajnabee in the year 2001, and going on to do several films including hits like Dhoom, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Race, and Aankhen, the hottest actress in town, Bipasha Basu is ready to wield the megaphone. The actress, in a recent interview, said that she has come to understand the nuances of film making and several other aspects of it. According to Bipasha, the long stint in the film industry will surely help her to direct a film. The actress says that with each day passing the urge to don the director’s cap has been increasing. Do we see a new director in the block?

Jai given a breather; Rajini’s role?

Jai has got himself into a bad position, thanks to a few ill advised comments on his upcoming movies. The storm that was stirred threatens to jeopardize his promising career. The Producer’s Council banned him for from signing any new film. This ban also threatened to put Venkat Prabhu’s Goa in trouble as Jai is part of the original cast. However, there has been news that the Producer’s Council has relented a bit in its stand and is willing to give a bit of a leeway to Jai for Goa. He has reportedly been given permission to act for a period of 20 days for the film.

Goa is being produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ochre Studios. Due to this, there have been speculations that Rajinikanth’s side has shown special interest in Jai’s issue and has played a part in obtaining special permission for the actor to take part in the shooting.

The work for Goa has begun. Jai’s portions are yet to start. Currently a song involving many dancers is being shot in the beaches. The talkie portions are expected to commence soon. Goa will have all the regular Venkat Prabhu actors like Siva, Vaibhav and Premgi. Sneha will be playing the heroine. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music.

Vettaikaran : Vijay’s other heroine

Sources from the Vettaikaran unit had mentioned that the movie would have a second heroine in addition to Anushka. We do not know the details of the role if it will be as important as Anushka’s or not. The actress for this role had not been finalized until now, even after the movie got well into its second schedule of shooting. Now, there are reports that Madalasa, a new face may get the opportunity to star opposite Vijay. The lady is currently acting in her first film titled Kadhalukku Maranam Illai produced by

K.T. Kunjumon along with Meera Nandan from Kerala. Talks are on with Madalasa but nothing has been finalized yet. If this opportunity materializes, it would be great for the actress’ fledgling career because new faces rarely get opportunities to star opposite top stars of Kollywood.

Thoranai in Vegas

Vishal-Shriya starrer Thoranai is in its final stages of shooting. Almost the entire talkie portion has been shot and only a song remains. The team is expected to leave for Las Vegas shortly to film the song in a lavish manner which will be a duet featuring the lead pair. Once the team returns after completing the shooting, the post production works will take off and if everything goes as planned, the film is expected to be ready for an early May release. Thoranai is being directed by Iyappan. This film is going to be crucial for Vishal after the big disappointment of Sathyam.

Aadhavan Suriya’s Villain role

In Suriya’s next film Aadhavan, the actor will be donning the title role, according to director K.S. Ravi Kumar. Yet another interesting info that the director shared is that Suriya’s role is that of an anti hero. Besides, Aadhavan will have all the aspects such as sentiment, comedy and fights that his films usually have.

Nayanthara plays the leading lady in this venture, which is produced by Red Giant Movies. Apart from

Suriya and Nayan, about 45 important actors and actresses will be a part of Aadhavan. Noted among them are Saroja Devi, Bollywood actor Rahul Dev, and Vadivelu. It is said that Vadivelu’s comedy is not be a separate track.

Pattalam Movie Preview

An army of young exuberant school kids are going to invade theaters this Friday through Pattalam. This is the second production of Lingusaamy’s banner Tirupathi Brothers. A theme woven around school kids and their carefree world full of mischief and fun is seldom explored in mainstream Tamil cinema. The last movie one can recollect on these lines was Kasthuriraja’s Thulluvadho Ilamai, but even that was more grown up than what was expected from a movie featuring school children. However,

Pattalam, from its trailer, promises to be a more genuine look into the world of those who have just about stepped into their teens.

Featuring a host of newcomers along with the experienced Nadiya, the movie revolves around how the correspondent of a school (Nadiya), who also happens to be a psychiatrist, manages to influence a bunch of young school kids and turn the school into a model institution. The newcomers Arun, Kiruba, Sathya, Balaji, Vikas, Suresh, Hari, Vignesh, Guru and Irfan were chosen by debutante director Rohan Krishna after an extensive screening process during which as many as 500 aspirants were scrutinized.

The movie claims to be a very genuine representation of the lives of children in schools and the methods used to harness their potential. Any common man will be able to relate to what happens in the movie.

Rohan Krishan has been an associate of Priyadarshan and Santhosh Sivan. The story of Pattalam has been written by Sheeba Rohan, music has been scored by Jassie Gift (‘Four Students’ fame). Close to the vacation season, let’s see whether Pattalam can re-awaken the school adventure genre.

Ayan Movie Preview

A Waywardly teenager, a youngster and an ageing gentleman – Suriya has done it all in his Vaaranam Aayiram. With an inexhaustible thirst for variety, he is ready for another date with the box office after the critically acclaimed Vaaranam Aayiram. Ayan is touted to be a high energy adrenaline rush experience with Suriya retaining his lately acquired six-pack hinting that there are as much action sequences as much there are romantic ones. And yes, if the promos are to be believed, Suriya drops his shirt flaunting his beefcake appearance.

Ayan has the all-fresh Tamanna playing Suriya’s female lead whose slow and steady rise to stardom is stuff for fairy tales. Ayan will also catapult Tamanna’s status into the big league and as a budding star; this movie is likely to become significant in her career.

And as far as the story goes, we do hear the usual clichés boasting on how the movie is different from the other movies. However, as a step ahead, here, director K V Anand declares that Ayan will rewrite the movie watching experience of Tamil viewers. “Ayan’s theme is completely unexplored in Indian cinema and hence the movie will be an eye-opener of sorts,” Anand was quoted as saying by the media. Besides, Suriya also revealed in a recent press meet that the Censor Board was uncertain in providing the movie’s certificate. All this only add up to the already swelling expectations.

Suriya plays the role of a 25 year old living in the labyrinth called Triplicane. So the requirement obviously demanded him to speak the ‘Chennai Sendamizh’. According to him, director K V Anand’s mastery helped him attain fluency in the dialect.

Originally named Boomathiya Regai, the movie was later rechristened to Ayan, meaning the unbeatable, for want of a crisp title. Ayan is shot in diverse locations including the maze like streets of Triplicane, the lush green forests of Africa & Malaysia and the Skeleton Coast of Namibia. Suriya’s electrifying action sequences are said to be one of the major attractions of the movie. Apart from Kanal Kannan, Franz Spilhaus, a stunt team that worked for many famous Hollywood movies has choreographed the stunt sequences in this film

Ayan also has Akashdeep Saigal debuting in Tamil in a negative role with Prabhu, Vivek and Karunas playing vital roles. Written by K V Anand and the noted writer Subha, Ayan is produced by AVM Productions and distributed by SUN Pictures.

Harris Jayaraj’s music is already topping the charts with footage from the movie being telecast in television channels. The album has 6 songs to its credit.

Ayan is scheduled for release this weekend, April 3, 2009.
