What I wrote as Sarapallam Samundi in Murasoli four decades back has now become Uliyin Osai. It is an interesting story of a sculptor, who is a part of the team that built the renowned big temple of Thanjavur, said Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the audio release function of the film recently.
Going down the memory lane, he said, ‘the story is set in the 10th century and is about the romance between a sculptor and a dancer. The film is set against a backdrop of the Tanjore temple, which is a renowned world heritage symbol.’
Heaping praise on Karunanidhi and the movie, Vairamuthu said, ‘I recently watched Uliyin Osai along with Kalaignar at a special screening. I was really stunned to see a sudden twist in the climax, which no one can guess.’
The movie starring Vineeth, Keerthy Chawla and Akshaya in the lead roles has seven songs composed within 24 hours by Ilayaraja. Kannan is cranking the camera and sets are erected by GK.
Produced by Murugesan of Nandini Arts, the movie is ready for release soon. Karunanidhi took a shorbreak from his busy schedule to present a seven-minute foreword.
