Chennai girl takes the Grammy Award

The Chennai based Tanvi Shah, a popular playback singer became the first women from India to win the Grammy Awards for her Jai Ho.... She shares this award along with AR Rahman and poet and lyric writer Gulzar.

Tanvi wrote the Spanish lyrics which were a part of the song and was also one of the singers who rendered it. She has a great voice and can sing in Arabic, Latin, and Spanish and sings a wide range of music with her band, Zahrra.

Remember the first song she sang first was Fanaa… under Rahman for Mani Ratnam’s Yuva, which became an anthem in clubs. She has a running collaboration with AR Rahman and has sung a number of songs for him like Papu Can’t dance… from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and popular numbers from Rang De Basanti, Jillunu Oru Kadhal, Slumdog Millionaire , Delhi 6 etc
